Tala Game Reserve is a wildlife conservation area, nestled in the quiet countryside of a farming community. The Game Reserve provides a fantastic stay for all kinds of travelers, from having zebras and giraffes visit you in the early morning to being welcomed by warthogs as you arrive at the reception area. Its proximity from Durban is one of the most alluring features of this KwaZulu-Natal wildlife reserve, despite the fact that once you’re here, it will seem like you’re a million miles away from everything.

Tala is a 3,000-hectare area that is unassuming and off the usual path. It is home to a variety of habitats, including open grasslands, sensitive wetland, and acacia thornveld. Over 380 different bird species have been recorded here, along with a large number of big game species, such as kudu, hippo, giraffe, and wildebeest. Tala is an excellent option for families and travelers looking for a simple, real bush getaway with the flexibility to explore at your own pace because it is devoid of malaria and big predators.

Accommodations provide rustic elegance in a private setting. In addition to offering a wonderful variety of rooms spread over a number of lodges and homes, our Fisherman’s Cottage by the dam allows guests to self-cater. While singles and couples are very welcome, larger groups are best served by Tala. Traditional outdoor bomas and La Tala Restaurant are available for dining, and Tala’s meeting rooms make it the perfect venue for day conferences, special events, weddings, and tours of KwaZulu-Natal.

Wildlife Game drives take place in the morning and afternoon, with coffee and sundowner stops to round out the experience. The program is set for the entire day. The rest of the day can be spent lounging in the warmth and seclusion of your accommodation, going for a walk in the wilderness, or visiting the pool. Additionally, Tala’s main lodge has an outside viewing terrace that’s perfect for sundowners right before supper.
